Teens Rock Tech
Problem:
It was an overwhelming transition from a cozy middle school to a high school on a 43+ acre campus. The existing map on my school website did not offer any shortcuts or spatial orientation. And all my classes were in so many different locations!
Solution:
I co-founded the “3DCampus AR” app that provides students with a virtual tour of the high school campus. Using a virtual joystick students digitally navigate the school campus, similar to "Pokémon GO". The app uses Augmented Reality (AR) to find the best path between classrooms. Currently, this app is available on the App Store.
Why “AR”?
Delivers an immersive experience.
Students can experience the campus even when away from school.
Allow for students to virtually learn their routes ahead of time.
Accessible on their mobile devices.
No VR: lower accessibility, cost
Future App Developments:
- Enhance Security.
- Accept student schedule inputs.
- Improve user interface and experience.
- Add Android capability.
- Allow club advertising.
- Update the model buildings.
- Expand to all high schools in the
Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD).
- Stay tuned for many more exciting features…
